Sport Walking Shoes

No matter if you need walking shoes for exercise, work, or playing sports, shoe manufacturers have you covered. When you are on your feet you need a comfortable, supportive shoe that you can wear all day. Sport walking shoes kind of sounds like a misnomer, but there are some sports that require you to be on your feet for long periods of time.

Golf comes immediately to mind. If you’re going to ditch the golf cart and walk the entire eighteen holes, you will need some good golf shoes. Golf shoes come in a lot of styles, who knew? Do you want waterproof, water resistant, or leather shoes? Leather shoes are for the fair weather golfer. You die hards probably want something a bit more durable. There are three types of removable spikes, metal, soft spikes, and ceramic tips or carbide spikes. Spikes are there for traction. You don’t want to fall on your butt while showing off that championship swing. Metal spikes tend to tear up the course, so some places do not allow them. Soft spikes are made of firm durable plastic and while they don’t wreck the green, they do not provide as much traction. These shoes are lightweight and comfortable, but don’t last as long. Carbide or ceramic tip spikes cost a bit more, but they will almost outlast the shoe itself. Good shoes may not get you into the Masters, but they will enhance your performance.

Bowling is another sport that requires a lot of time on your feet. You need good shoes if you’re a serious bowler, so ditch the rental shoes. They’re kind of icky anyway. Here’s something I never knew. Most bowling shoes are made to accommodate the right handed bowler with a slide on the left foot and more of traction sole on the right foot. Really good shoes for the serious bowler have slides attached with Velcro and they come in different degrees and may be changed. For the casual bowler, there are universal bowling shoes that are suitable for right or left handed people.

Power walking is not just a stroll around the block. It’s an intense physical workout and you need the right shoes for that activity. Buy shoes that are made for power walking. For the best fit go to a running shop and get a gait analysis by an experienced salesperson. Take your old shoes to get an idea of the wear pattern. Make sure the heel is no more than inch above the sole and avoid flared soles. You need comfortable, lightweight footwear for power walking.

These are just a few options for sport walking shoes. Buy shoes that are made for the activity you’re doing. Make sure they fit well and are comfortable and you’ll enjoy your activities much more. Nothing is fun when your feet hurt.
